Mongolia and Vietnam are set to launch a new direct flight route that will connect Ulaanbaatar and Nha Trang, beginning December 15. This announcement was made during the Mongolia-Vietnam Business Forum held as part of the state visit of Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to Vietnam.
The frequency is 2 round-trip flights per week, with each leg taking around 5 and a half hours.
Nha Trang is known for its pleasant weather and attractive destinations. Therefore, this new flight route is expected to meet the demands of Mongolian tourists travelling to South Asia, especially during cold winter season.
Mongolia has announced 2023-2025 as “Visiting Years to Mongolia” and has increased direct international flights significantly. As of October 2023, Mongolia has airway agreements with 42 countries and the right to operate direct flights to 115 places around the world.
In 2023, the country is introducing a new direct flight to the USA. The national airline, MIA, will partner with Cathay Pacific to offer direct routes to five major U.S. cities.
MIAT’s ambitions go beyond North America, as negotiations for direct flights to Australia, a nation with a significant Mongolian population, have been successfully concluded. The airline is actively working on facilitating these new travel connections. In addition to this, MIAT has laid the legal foundation for direct routes to Greece, Qatar, and Hungary within the current year. Most recently, Vietnam has been added to MIAT’s growing list of new destinations, underlining its commitment to expanding the horizons of travelers worldwide. Mongolia’s evolving role as a global travel hub offers promising prospects for explorers from various corners of the globe.
