Introduction to Mongolia’s governance system

Mongolia is a parliamentary country. The head of state is the president and is elected by the presidential election every six years. However, the president’s rights and responsibilities are limited.

Politics of Mongolia

The legislature
(the Parliament/the Great Khural) is responsible for debating and voting on new laws to be introduced.

The executive
(the Government of Mongolia) is responsible for enacting and upholding the laws established by the legislature.

The judiciary
is the legal arm. It is independent of the other two arms and is responsible for enforcing the laws.
