Mongolian Prime Minister (PM) Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai is on an official visit to Singapore from July 6 to 9, 2022 at the invitation of his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong. This is the first prime minister-level visit after 11 years. In the Asia-Pacific region, Mongolia prioritizes relations and cooperation with Southeast Asia countries by the policy.
As part of the visit, the sides signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Singapore Cooperation Programme. “Temasek” global investment fund will provide SGD 232,420 worth of non-refundable aid for capacity-building activities of the state housing industry of Mongolia and related training. Temasek has been cooperating on projects with Mongolia since 2009.
In addition, Mongolia will cooperate with Singapore in establishing a savings fund system. This is expected to create an opportunity to ensure stable employment in Mongolia, and for citizens to pay part of the cost of education, health care, and services from their savings.
The Government of Mongolia is implementing the “New Recovery Policy”. Under this policy, Mongolia will cooperate with Singapore to introduce the country’s advanced technology, know-how, financing, and investment to priority sectors of the economy, reforming the public service based on information technology, and improving the governance of state-owned companies.
Also, the Government is developing the “E-Mongolia” platform to become a digital nation and is carrying out intensive reforms in this sector, such as digitizing government services. In this context, Mongolia will cooperate with Singapore to improve e-governance and ensure cyber security. In addition, the “Civil Service Reform Based on Digital Transition” project will be implemented in cooperation with the National University of Singapore.
