The total foreign trade turnover reached USD 1.76 billion in January 2023. This is an increase of USD 669.5 million or 61.1 percent from the same period last year, according to the Mongolian Customs General Administration.
The amount of export exceeded the amount of import by USD 389.7 million, and the foreign trade balance was positive.
In addition, goods and raw materials worth USD 1.07 billion were exported in January, an increase of 99.7 percent compared to the same period last year. Out of the total exports:
- Mineral products were USD 875.6 million or 81.2 percent;
- Pearls, precious and semi-precious stones, metals, jewelry, coins were USD 121.9 million or 11.3 percent;
- Herbal products were USD 31.4 million or 2.9 percent.
Mongolia has exported goods to 39 countries, out of which 86.4 percent to China, 11.3 percent to Switzerland, and 0.8 percent to Singapore.
