Ministers and deputy ministers were reappointed during the regular Cabinet meeting this week. Khurelbaatar Chimed, a member of parliament who has been in the government since 1991, was appointed as a Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development. His main tasks include implementing Mongolia’s long-term development policy, ensuring active participation of investors and the private sector, and doubling economic growth.
Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar, also a member of parliament, was appointed as the Minister for Port Development. Mongolia gives priority to the revitalizing border ports and has reflected on the issue of port development in the New Recovery Policy. In this context, the government is building new railways and commissioning new border checkpoints. Bulgantuya Khurelbaatar holds a Master’s degree in Development Economy from Yale University.
Davaasuren Tserenpil, a Member of Parliament and former Minister of Energy, was appointed as the Minister of Construction and Urban Development. His main focus is to build a new city in the Orkhon and Khushigt Valley, overcoming the infrastructure challenges in Ulaanbaatar, as well as in rural areas.
Chinzorig Sodnom, former Minister for Labour and Social Protection was appointed as the Minister of Health. His mission prioritizes improvement in the health insurance system under the Social Insurance Package Law, carrying out comprehensive legal reforms in the sector, and intensifying early detection and preventive diagnostics.
